The month of January is full of hope for the promise of a better year ahead but the optimism people have during this month doesn't seem to last till the start of February. I remember last year, I was still very much into longboarding. Two weeks in, I sprained my ankle on my new longboard. All throughout 2010, I can still feel the lasting damage it did to my foot.
January here in the Philippines is the kindest month for foreigners to visit the country. The weather is just great. You can still enjoy the relatively cold weather in Metro Manila, without the holiday rush of December. I don't know why, but the traffic around Metro Manila seems to be lighter from January until May and starts to get really ugly during June to December.
January is also the best time to shop. After all the consumption that was done during the holiday season, as if it wasn't enough. The overstocked goods are at their lowest price during these times. Buy the tallest Christmas tree of your dreams right now.
January also highlights your need to work. The past month's activities drained all your money and you are quite broke and in credit card debt. January reminds you of your first job when you really needed the money to survive. It's like receiving your first paycheck all over again.
